Bills that have been signed into Florida State Law
Posted on Jul 7th, 2024
1. As of July 1st, we can no longer issue parking violations for parking on the street. Regardless of what association documents say, we need to defer to State, County and Municipal parking regulations when it comes to street parking. Hillsborough County allows street parking, but only if there is a clearance of at least 10 feet for the flow of traffic. PLEASE NOTE: we can still issue other parking violations, such as parking on grass, etc.
2. As of July 1st, we can no longer issue violations for properly parked commercial vehicles. This excludes vehicles that require special fuel AND are 26,001lbs OR any vehicle that has (3) three axles, regardless of weight. Those types of vehicles are still prohibited from parking at Summerfield.
3. As of July 1st, we can no longer issue a violation for having your trash can out 24 hours before pick-up day and 24 hours after pick up-day. Outside of that time-frame, we can still issue violations for having a trash can out. Please also note that you can still get a violation for improperly storing your trash can.
There are three bills that have been signed into Florida State law that will affect Summerfield directly. Bills 1203, 293 and 59. Here are some highlights:

Any feces deposited by a dog, an owned cat, or pet pig on public property, public walks, recreation areas or the private property of others must be immediately removed by the person who has custody or control of the animal unless otherwise authorized by the property owner.
(Ord. No. 00-26, § 14, 1-1-2001; Ord. No. 13-33, § 5, 12-19-2013)
Not only is it a Hillsborough County ordinance and you could be fined for not doing so, but it is a nuisance and uncollected dog waste is a serious problem for our association. Next time you’re tempted to leave your dog droppings, please remember these facts:
· You could be fined by the County.
· The Environmental Protection Agency is becoming aggressive about enforcing the Clean Water Act. Our association could be fined if dog waste goes uncollected.
· Uncollected dog waste may lead to a special assessment. If fined by the EAP, the association could face a potential special assessment that would be levied against all members - - not just dog owners.
· Uncollected dog waste spreads disease and attracts rodents who feed on pet waste.

Waste Connections to Collection Recycling Every Other Week in Hillsborough
Posted on Jul 10th, 2020
From: Hillsborough County Office of Neighborhood Relations
Hillsborough County Solid Waste customers served by Waste Connections will temporarily receive residential recycling collection service every other week, beginning Monday, July 13.
On June 24, the County informed residents that Waste Connections would temporarily suspend recycling collection because many of the company’s truck drivers were unavailable to work due to the coronavirus (COVID-19).
By temporarily shifting to an every-other-week collection schedule, Waste Connections will be able to provide dependable recycling collection service as staffing levels gradually increase over the coming weeks. It is the position of the Hillsborough County Solid Waste Management Division and Waste Connections that this action plan is temporary. Weekly service will resume once the contractor is able to return staffing levels to normal.
Residents can learn when their blue recycling cart is scheduled to be collected by visiting HCFLGov.net/WasteConnectionsRecycling.
If a recycling cart is placed at curbside on the wrong day, Solid Waste will have the driver place an orange sticker on the recycling cart. The sticker will provide the website and phone number where customers can find out their next collection day.
This amended service calendar solely impacts residential Solid Waste customers served by Waste Connections.
If as a result of this reduction in collection services residents have excess recyclable materials, they are encouraged to drop off their recyclables at one of the County’s Community Collection Centers, or dispose of the materials in their gray garbage bins. The Centers are open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. For more information and locations of the Community Collection Centers, visit HCFLGov.net/trash and click on the “Find a Waste Disposal Facility” tab.
Hillsborough County Solid Waste and Waste Connections apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work through these unforeseen circumstances. For more information, please call the Solid Waste Customer Service Team at (813) 272-5680.
Thank you,
Your Office of Neighborhood Relations
